The story is told of a Minister, several years
ago, who concluded his sermon with a evangelistic appeal that went something like this: ‘If there’s someone here
who needs help in getting to know the Lord, will you please raise your hand?’
A young fellow quickly stood up and said with emotion, ‘Please pray for me, sir. The burden of my sin is too
heavy for me to bear.’
The Minister showed the young man,
from the Word of God, what he needed to do to get right with God. So he found peace by trusting Jesus Christ as his Lord and
Savior.
It seems that for eight years he had wandered around
the country without contacting his parents. The Pastor advised him to write a letter to them immediately. In fact, that very
day he did so. He described his conversion and how it came about. He also asked for their forgiveness for his past disobedience.
Later a reply came from his mother. His eyes filled with tears
as he read, ‘My dear son, the joy of receiving your letter was mixed with sadness. As near as I can tell, you must have
accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior at the same hour your father went to heaven. He had been sick for a long time, and that
day he was very restless. He tossed from side to side on his bed, crying out in misery, "O dear Lord, please save my
poor, wandering boy."
Just as he slipped away, he began
to murmur the same sentence again, but death sealed his lips before he could finish his plea. He was still praying when he
went into the Presence of Jesus. Son, I’m sure that one of the reasons you became a Christian was Dad’s unceasing
intercession.’
What an amazing account of God’s
Faithfulness. In fact, it’s likely there are thousands of similar stories. We can pray with confidence because God’s
Promises are always true. Remember, God always hears and answers the prayer that is offered in Faith. Let’s Trust Him
to meet our deepest needs.
